Notorious suspected car snatchers in Police net in Ogun

Two men, who allegedly specialised in car snatching across Ogun state, are now in Police net in the state.

Spokesman of the state Police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who made this known said the suspects, Damilola Omolegbe and Saidi Asirikoko were arrested at Oko Ape area of igbogila on Friday 8th of December 2017.

Oyeyemi said one of the suspects, Damilola Omolegbe contacted one Abimbola Olaore, who drives a Toyota Camry, marked KJA 164 EX in order to hire his vehicle from Alimoso in Lagos to Igbogila on an agreed fee.

He added that on getting to Oko Ape area, Omolegbe asked the driver to stop for him to ease himself, only for two other men to allegedly emerge from the bush with dangerous weapons and then tied the driver with rope after beaten him severely and dispossessed him of his car.

Oyeyemi said the suspects in the process of escaping with the car ran into a ditch and the vehicle was unable to move further, while they allegedly jumped down and ran into a nearby bush.

He added that distress call was made to the police with the Ilaro Area Commander, Titus Musa detailing police patrol team to the scene.

The spokesman said the bush was thoroughly combed by the policemen in collaboration with the members of the community and the two suspects were eventually arrested while the remaining one escaped.

He added that the car has been recovered to the station, while according to him the State Police Commissioner, Ahmed iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) of the state command for further investigation.
