18 die in Ogun fatal accident

18 people have lost their lives in a fatal accident at Alapako area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
Spokesman of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirm the accident that occurred on Sunday, said the accident involved an Xtera Jeep marked KJA-278-DS, an unmarked Ford and a bus marked GGE-873-XU.
Akinbiyi said all the 18 passengers in the bus lost their lives, while the driver of the Jeep and its only occupant survived the accident with various degrees of injuries.
He added that the bus was reportedly trying to overtake the vehicle in front of it, when it had an head-on collision with the coming Jeep in the opposite direction.
The spokesman said that the bodies of seven of the deceased had been deposited at FOS mortuary, Ipara-Remo, while three of the bodies who were initially injured but died later, were deposited at the morgue of the Isara General Hospital, with the remaining eight dead bodies taken to the morgue of an unconfirmed hospital.
He added that the vehicles involved in the accident have been taken to the Alapako Police Station.
