Two suspected kidnappers shot dead, victim rescued unhurt in Ogun

Two suspected kidnappers have been shot dead in Ogun state with their victim rescued by the Police.
The suspects were shot dead when their kidnap syndicate allegedly engaged men of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) of the state Police command, in gun battle while the Police operatives were trying to rescue an abducted woman, last Thursday.
Spokesman of the state Police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the victim, simply identified as Mrs Ajayi, boarded a taxi going to Eleweran and was forcefully taken to Killa area of Odeda where she was taken to a bush and held hostage.
Oyeyemi said the kidnappers then put a call across to her pastor husband informing him that his wife is in their custody and that the sum of N2million Naira should be paid for her release.
He added that the pastor quickly informed the Police and the Officer-Charge of FSARS, Uba Adam led his men to the bush where the suspect were traced to, and engaged them in gun battle which lasted for about 45 minutes.
The spokesman said that at the end of the encounter, two members of the syndicate were shot and arrested but gave up the ghost on the way to hospital.
He added that one Policeman was injured and undergoing treatment in an hospital, while the victim was rescued unhurt.
He listed items recovered from the suspects as two locally made single barrel guns and four live cartridges.
