17 die, 16 injured in Ogun multiple crash

17 people have lost their lives in three fatal crashes in different parts of Ogun State.

Spokesman of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi who confirmed the crashes to Newsworldpremium, said two of those who lost their lives were feared dead, while 15 others were already confirmed dead.

Akinbiyi said 16 people were also injured in the three crashes.

The Spokesman said that one of the accidents claimed 13 lives and it occurred close to the Foursquare Church Camp in Ogun state.

He added that the accident involved a Volvo six-tyre truck marked LSD-138-XQ and a Ford Passenger bus marked AAA-886-XR.


Akinbiyi said the accident was allegedly caused by wrong overtaking on the part of the bus, which in the process collided with the on-coming truck.

He added that 13 of the 18 passengers in the bus lost their lives, with the remaining five injured, while two occupants of the truck were also injured.

The Spokesman said that the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Morgue of FOS Hospital in Ipara and the injured victims taken to Ife-Oluwa Plus A Hospital at Ogunmakin, in Ogun state.

He added that two people also lost their lives in another accident that occurred at the Kobape area of Abeokuta/Sagamu expressway, involving a Nissan Serena car marked LSD-679-EQ.

Akinbiyi said five others were injured in the lone accident, while four other occupants of the vehicle were unhurt.

The Spokesman said that the accident was allegedly caused by over speeding and busted tyre, adding that both the deceased and injured victims of the accident were taken to the State General Hospital at Ijaye, Abeokuta.

Akinbiyi said two people were also feared dead in another lone accident at Showo Village area of Abeokuta/Sagamu expressway.

He added that four others were injured in the accident which involved a Toyota Sienna marked KRD-714-EW.

The Spokesman said that the accident was also allegedly caused by over speeding and busted tyre.
