The management, coaches and players
of Gateway United football Club have appealed to the people of Ogun State
not to lose confidence in them in their bid to gain promotion to the Premier
League after the forthcoming Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The appeal was made when the State
Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Afolabi Afuape, visited the team at the MKO
Abiola International Stadium football pitch.
The information officer of the
ministry, Dolapo Jinad in a statement said that the captain of the team, Saburi
Omoyayi while speaking on behalf of the players appealed to the State
government and members of the public to continue to support the club, as the
new season is about to kick-off.
One of the coaches of the team,
Akeem Disu, according to Jinad affirmed that Gateway United football Club
present team has improved beyond the fans expectation and they are setting out
to get the best for the State by gaining promotion to Nigeria Professional
Football League, this coming season.
Jinad said that in his response, the
State Commissioner for Youths and Sport assured them of the State’s maximum
support at all time, urging them to do well and not disappoint the people of
the state.
