The technical department of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation(NVBF) has pruned the number of players in Camp for the men and women national teams, ahead of the African Volleyball Nations Cup tournaments.
The Federation Secretary, Adamu Maikano, in a statement said the women's team has been pruned to 14, to meet the deadline for the registration of the team for the tournament scheduled to begin in Cameroon from 7th to 15th October, this year.
Maikano said the men's national team, has been pruned from 34 players to 21, in preparation for the men's tournament scheduled to begin in Cairo, Egypt on the 20th of October, this year.
He gave the list of the 21 players as:
Emmanuel Samuel, Yohanna Stwevini, Daniel Nathan, Geoffrey Isaac, Levy Lortyom, Jatto Emmanuel, Philip Akande A., Eruaga Hassan, Arinze Kevin, Samuel Ogwuche, Harison Anyansodike, Ejeh Matthew, Dauda Saje, Akimbo Sunday O., Princewell Okoi Joseph, Dikiyai Seiyefa, Goodluck Anyansodike, David Lawal, Adamu Mohammed, Joharam Salami and Afun Idowu.
The competition also serves as qualifiers for the 2018 FIVB World Championship, as the top three teams from the tournaments will represent Africa at the World Championship.
