Man kills his six months old baby, in Police net in Ogun

A man, who allegedly killed his six months old baby, is now in Police net in Ogun state.

Spokesman of the state Police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who made this known said the suspect, Andrew Koku was arrested at Ayedere in Obada area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a complaint from the mother of the baby Omowumi Teleda who lodged a complaint at Adigbe Divisional Headquarters of the command that she went out briefly to see her first child she had with her former husband, leaving the six month old baby, Precious Koku behind with the Father, only for her to come back and meet the dead body of the child.

He added that the mother explained further that the baby was hale and hearty before she left home and within an hour of her outing, the baby has dropped dead, while this made her to strongly suspect her husband who happened to be the only person with the baby.

The spokesman said on interrogation, after his arrest, the suspect confessed to the crime and claimed to be suspecting that his wife wanted to leave him for her former husband, while he believes that if that happens, he will not be able to take care of the baby and that was the reason why he decided to kill the child.

He added that the state Police Commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu has directed that the case should be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper investigation and possible prosecution of the suspect.
