TRACE deploys 23 patrol vehicles and 350 operatives for yuletide

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), says it has commenced operation “SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE DRIVING…… A MUST”, throughout the state with the deployment of 350 operatives, 23 patrol vehicles and 20 tow trucks through the Hired Tow Operators (HTO), for the festive period.

Spokesman of the Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said according to a statement by the TRACE Corps Commander/Chief Executive, ‘Seni Ogunyemi, the operation which commenced on Monday, 18th December, 2017, would last through Monday, 8th January, 2018.

He added that the TRACE boss said the special operation would also involve all motorist and other road users through its TRACE Traffic Whistle Blower Initiative, TRACE Emergency Traffic Service (TETS), as well as, its Community Based Traffic Management Scheme, as safety on the road is a collective responsibility.

Ogunyemi said: “Christmas and New Year celebrations comes with attendant traffic challenges as a result of increased human and vehicular movement, over speeding, drunk driving and other overbearing attitude of motorists, hence, the need for a corresponding increase in road traffic policing to ensure safety of the motoring public”.

The Corp Commander urged all TRACE operatives to be civil, humane and exhibit a high level of professionalism, while he admonished the motoring public to cooperate with the Corps to ensure a crash free celebration, noting that any vehicle contravened for any traffic infraction(s) during the celebrations would not be released until Monday, 8th January, 2018, when the Corps Special Operation would have ended, after the Yuletide season.

The spokesman said the motoring public can call 08024149595 and 08101792333 for feedback in case of emergency situations, while text messages can be sent to 07034110281.
