Seven burnt to death in a fatal accident in Ogun

Seven people have been burnt to death in a fatal accident at Alapako/Ogunmakin, along Lagos Ibadan expressway.

Spokesperson of the Ogun state Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, who made this known said that the dead victims were burnt beyond recognition.

Okpe said that the multiple crash involved twelve people, while seven were burnt to death, one injured, leaving four others unhurt.

She added that vehicles involved in the accident are a black Toyota Yaris marked MUS-46-EA, an unmarked Mack truck and a DAF truck.

Okpe said the accident was suspected to have been caused by wrong overtaking at the narrowed section of the road where traffic was diverted to enable repairs of the weakened bridges between Fidiwo and SANDCRETE around OgunMakin /Alapako area of the state.

She added that the burnt corpses of the crash victims had been deposited at a morgue in Ipara, Ogun state.

The State Sector Commander of FRSC, Clement Oladele according to her, has reiterated the need for motorists to exercise caution and obey the traffic signs erected on this segment of the road which may remain till June 2018 before the repairs is completed and the road open to traffic.

Okpe however, advised travelers to refrain from travelling inside containers as the seven burnt victims were travelling inside the container of the truck which caused the crash, as it embarked on the dangerous overtaking.
