45-year old mother of five in Police net in Ogun for duping

A 45-year old mother of five, Ashile Basirat is now in Police net in Ogun for allegedly conspiring with transporters to dupe passengers in Abeokuta.
The state Police Commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, made this known while parading Basirat and 33 other suspected criminals at the state command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta for crimes ranging from murder, kidnapping, cultism, among others.
Speaking to newsmen during the parade of suspects, Basirat, said she ventured into the illicit act of duping people after there was poor sales for her business.
Explaining how her gang operated before they were arrested, she claimed that her gang members would act as passengers in a taxi, pretending to be waiting for one more passenger.
Basirat said that when the victim is found, they would tell him or her that they had money in the booth of the taxi, which could not be spent because it was spiritually locked, while the victim would be persuaded to follow them to a priest and help pay some money for the spiritual unlocking, with an assurance that him or her will get his or her money in double fold.
She said “When the person agrees, he or she would be brought to me, while I pretend to be an Ifa Herbalist.”
She added that her husband and her children have warned her to stop the crime before she was arrested.
She said “My husband refused to show up when I was arrested because he was unaware of my last operation and has warned me to stop
“My children urged me to stop and I promised them I was going to stop; I ventured into trading, as I was selling provisions but it did not yield the desired profit, so I desired to go into duping.”
Items recovered from the 34 suspects paraded by the Police boss include pump action guns, locally made pistols, locally made short gun, live cartridges, double barrel gun, charms, cutlass, a plasma television, a camera, jewelries and a Bajaj motorcycle.
