A man has lost his life in an accident
involving an Iveco truck, a Mazda car, an Honda and another truck at
Iyana-Mortuary area of Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
The accident which occurred around 11:30am on Tuesday,
involved a Mazda car marked AAB-267-AA, Honda marked FST-321-EP, an Iveco truck
marked SMK-152-XE, and another truck that according to eyewitness report fled
the scene immediately.
Spokesman of the Ogun state Traffic Compliance and
Enforcement Corp (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed to Newsworld Premium
that the Iveco truck had a brake failure as it was approaching the traffic
light at Iyana-Mortuary and started hitting vehicles in its front, as it rammed
into the Mazda car against the truck in front of the Mazda.
Akinbiyi said that the Mazda car also gutted fire due
to the petrol stored in the booth of the car, while the only occupant of the
car lost his life in the process.
He added that the body of the deceased has been taken
to the morgue of the state General hospital in Ijaiye, Abeokuta with the injured
driver of the Iveco truck taken to the same hospital for treatment.
The spokesman of
TRACE said the two occupants of the Honda vehicle escaped unhurt.
