The invitees to the
Championship, which will hold between July 16 and 23, include six male Shooters,
Odesanya Kayode, Oduntan Olaoluwa, Mustapha Timilehin, Taiwo Oguns, Odufuye
Samuel and Gigha Towei.
Female Shooters invited from
team-Ogun are Toriola Temitope , Bakare Abosede, Anifowoshe Tutu,
Akinrole Ikimot, Ambali Latifat and Kosebinu Folake.
The 12 invitees are expected
to join other eight Shooters in the national team’s camp on May 10 in Kaduna.
Media Officer of the state
Shooting Association, Abdulfatai Sobande in a statement said that the Shooters
were invited, following the state’s outstanding performance at the recently
concluded second edition of the late Major Jo Ojo Shooting Championship in
Lagos last April.
Sobande said that the state
team emerged overall winners with 11 gold, 10 silver and eight bronze medals
ahead of Kano state who garnered five gold, three silver and five bronze as
well as host Lagos with five gold, three silver and three bronze medals at the
tournament which attracted Shooters from Osun, Jigawa, Kogi, Zamfara as well as
Oyo state and the Nigeria Prison Service.
The state Shooting coach, Idris Oguntayo
was voted as the tournament’s best coach.
